Medomak Valley to host fundraiser to battle breast cancer

Medomak Valley High School of Waldoboro will stage its first “Paws for the Cause” basketball games to benefit the Maine Breast Cancer Coalition on Jan. 2, 2018, when the Panthers host Lincoln Academy of Newcastle in a varsity doubleheader.

The boys game will be played at 5:30 p.m., followed by the girls game at 7 p.m.

“We’d like to thank our guests from Lincoln Academy not only for participating in the night but also for supporting our endeavor as well,” said Medomak Valley athletic administrator Matt Lash.

During these games the Medomak teams will be wearing pink uniforms, and commemorative T-shirts will be available for students and fans of both teams to purchase.

Other fundraising will take place both before and during the games, including the chance to add your personalized “Pink Paw” to the gym wall for a $1 donation. The evening’s 50-50 drawing and all other proceeds will go to the Maine Breast Cancer Coalition.

“This will truly be a memorable evening for all, as everyone has been impacted by cancer in some way,” said Michelle DePatsy, president of the Medomak Valley All-Sports Boosters. “We hope to see a full house on January 2, and everyone is encouraged to wear pink!”
